The Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is a New York City art deco skyscraper located in the Midtown borough of Manhattan on the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street.

Having become one of the major symbols of the city, with its 443 meters high (including antenna), it was the tallest building in the world between 1931 and 1967, with the completion of the Ostankino tower in Moscow, and the tallest skyscraper tallest in the world until 1970, when the North Tower of the World Trade Center was completed.

It resumed the primacy of the city after the attacks of 11 September 2001, and returned to second place in 2014, with the inauguration of the One World Trade Center. It has been registered in the National Historic Landmark Program as a national monument since 1981.

In 2000, the American Society of Civil Engineers proposed it as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World  and in 2007 it won first place in the American Institute of Architects' list of the most popular buildings.

Every year it is a tourist destination for four million visitors who flock to the panoramic terrace on the eighty-sixth floor and the observatory on the 110th floor.
